BURBERRY PROSUM 2010/2011

Everyone likes classic in his own way. Some just adore it and wear pieces of this kind daily. Others prefer these items for special occasions. But I don’t know a person who would say that classic is bad.

Burberry is classic, and that’s all we can say. But we want to say more, especially after success the fashion show of Burberry Prorsum had yesterday (February 23). It was broadcast in 3D and could be seen in five places simultaneously. In London plenty of celebrities watched it live.

And there was a lot to watch. Christopher Baily was clearly inspired by military trend that became extremely ppulat during the last few seasons. Lots of military jackets, suits and coats were featured on the runway. But these were different from those we are used to seeing in recent seasons. They were more modern, very similar to real military outfits men wear at battle fields.
Besides military style we see many very feminine pieces: light fur-coats, skirts that narrow down to knees, pleated dresses, lacy blouses and absolutely fabulous thigh-high boots. To tell you the truth, I’ve never been a huge fan of these boots, but Burberry ones seem fantastic to me!

CHANEL FALL/WINTER 2010/2011

John Galliano, Alexander McQueen and Karl Lagerfeld are designers who present their shows monumentally, with chic and splendor. Of course they cost lots of money and take many efforts but they definitely become memorable. Don’t you remember McQueen’s monster show? Or last season’s Chanel show with all that straw and playful activities? Yes, you do! And you will remember the Autumn/ Winter 2010/ 2011 show, too. Why? Because I bet you have never seen so much ice and water in Grand Palais.

The theme of the collection was the global warming or ‘the global cooling’ as Lagerfeld called it, and its effects on our lives. Male and female models had to walk on a wet surface of the runway sometimes sending little droplets of water to the front row where stars like Lindsay Lohan and Vanessa Paradis were sitting.

The huge chunks of ice on the stage were absolutely real as were the models strutting in head-to-toe coffee-colored yeti suits and shaggy snow boots. The line was more couture than ready-to-wear though I am sure it would have lots of fans living in normal climate.
The amount of fur amazed everyone but PETA activists should not call Lagerfeld bad names, the fur was fake.

The designer told The Telegraph:
It’s so good now, technical advances are so perfect you can hardly tell fake fur from the real thing. Fake is not chic – we have got a new Chanel tweed to stop copies – but fake fur is.”
Only best models were chosen to wear the luxurious pieces on the catwalk including Freja Beha Erichsen, Lara Stone, Abbey lee Kershaw, Coco Rocha, Sasha Pivovarva and others.

Brown tweeds, capes, bonnets, furry trousers, coats – all had a level of lavish elaboration usually reserved for haute eveningwear. Accessories were perfect. Jewelry was very similar to little pieces of ice, sparkling and mysterious.

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD FALL/WINTER 2010/2011

Dame Westwood wouldn’t be she if she created something that was ordinary. She is always very extravagant and her works make us feel surprised every season.

For Paris Fashion week the designer focused on the bluestocking young lady and footpad theme. Extremely colorful and unusual outfits were modelled on the show with girls sometimes looking funny and playful and in other times strict and even threatening.

Although garments seemed to have been made from old fabrics and worn-earlier clothes we know that each piece was actually the result of Westwood’s creation, an elaborate piece that costs lots of money.

Plenty of knee-length dresses looked pretty and eccentric but some were definitely wearable. There were lots of prints of any kind, from flowers to stars and even crowns. By the way, some models wore crowns on their heads – flamboyant and huge, adding an ironic touch to the collection.

Socks and shoes were again together. And maybe it’s a good thing as they do make us feel much warmer, though it looks not as glamorous.

BETSEY JOHNSON FALL/WINTER 2010/2011

Betsey Johnson will always be Betsey Johnson and nobody else. This truly extraordinary woman has unveiled her Autumn-Winter 2010/2011 collection with all that sparkle and playfullness that is characteristic to her style.

Vibrant colors, ecentric designs and a creative approach to everything made this show unforgettable. Gorgeous Kelly Osbourne opened up the parade wearing a bandanna on her face. But then she suddenly tore it off and the audience realized that it was Wild West that had inspired the line.

Betsey said: “I’m working on my stuff, being very true-blue Betsey.” And it really was her but about 45 years ago!
I love the color palette: bright pink, burning scarlet, shining yellow, luxurious fuchsia and lots of other vivid hues that remind me about summer, childhood and fairy-tale characters. Dressed in colorful tutus, catsuits, faux fur jackets, funny frilled bloomers and other suchlike outfits the models looked cheerful and boisterous.

The designer claims the clothing can be worn at any season: “We’re not in seasons anymore, anyway. We’ll show a little bit of now and a lot of later.”

NINA RICCI 2010/2011

This season Nina Ricci collecton was fully and officially created by Peter Copping, ex-right-hand man of Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton. And to tell you the truth, I do like the pieces a lot. They are very cute, very womanly. Flower motif was obviously dominant and it was good. First of all because flowers are all about femininity and secondly, because flowers in various forms are a hot trend for Autumn/ Winter 2010/ 2011.

The range was quite different from usual Nina Ricci collections and it means Copping took the plunge to go his own way, apart from Theyskens’ influence. No more high-drama dark Belgian romance is expected then.
Pretty, just below knee-length satin slipdresses, chic little black dresses, lacy tops and skrts of elaborated designs were all the new hot things for the brand. No pants were in the line and it seems none of those would really fit into the cloud of feminine luxury.

Gloves went above the elbows, belts embraced the models’ waists and perfect classy shoes finished the glamourous picture. Some fur was used but it was good and beautiful.

So lately I have been über busy. Okay, not über busy just über slacking off. I haven't updated my blog or website in awhile! Actually just this past week! Hmmmmph.... Care to know why I have been away? Well I was busy attending clothing previews and I just kinda started dating someone. I know , I know you're all thinking its not a legitimate excuse to be away for awhile! But for the first time in awhile I feel things could be turning for me. The person I have been seeing alot of lately is soooooo handsome and whoa dang I feel like a 14 catholic school girl who just saw a boy not in uniform. Haha.

Haha last night Skye took me to see The Human Experience , and wow. Such a life changing movie, its so sad and well saaaaaad haha

Last night I stayed up till 4 or 5 just researching on humanatarian work and checking out countries that really need help!
I emailed the most important people in my contacts and told them my potential plans and asked for their support and financial backing.
I decided I am going to help the countries of Fiji, Panama, Nigeria and Thailand. My charity I will launch will involve fashion for a cause. I want to use all money for me to help provide better health, education, and provide clothing for those in need.

Haha thanks Skye for a life changing movie!

I have recieved well over 100 replies back from my mass messages I sent out regarding my cause and most or my replies I recieved they were thrilled and ready to help!

Hanne is one of my fave models, she is so pretty and has this very natural soft look, and her story is very interesting.

For the first time in recent memory (fashion has a short memory) Galliano has found new inspiration for his men’s collection away from the storied fabled tales of Napoleon Bonaparte. This season, we look toward the new adventures of Sherlock Holmes as the inspiration for the new Fall Winter 2010/2011 collection. And guess what? It works like a charm!

Galliano has thrown in tweeds, wools, leathers and plastic embellishments to create his line. The silhouettes range from street wear to dandy suits that are beyond well tailored. They elongate the body, with tradition cutting technique combined with Galliano’s penchant for flair and excitement.
The shoulder capes, redingotes, umbrellas and hats should all find their way into department stores and boutiques, before finally finding their way into the hands of consumers desperate to own anything practical from Galliano.

The second part of the show featured Galliano’s gold pieces. Here we find colorful street wear and underwear set on fire thanks to the wonderful makeup created by celebrity veteran makeup artist Pat McGrath. Lots of boxer-brief style underwear, with lots of straps and colors galore seemed to be animate and come to life under the bright lights of Place Vendome. >

The third part of the collection moves us into Asia. We find braided ponytail wearing models dressed in loose floating trousers and baggy cut jeans dramatically tapered from the knees down. The blazers have detachable labels while short dragon and jewel encrusted sating coats play over black baggy trousers in satin.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN DEAD!

Fashion designer Alexander McQueen has taken his own life at age 40. His office confirmed his death, saying: 'It is a tragic loss. We are not making a comment at this time out of respect for the McQueen family.' He was found at his home in London. The UK Sun reports that he hanged himself.
McQueen's mother Joyce died on February 2nd. The next day the grieving designer tweeted "i'm letting my followers know the my mother passed away yesterday if it she had not me nor would you RIP mumx." A minute later he added "but life must go on!" On Sunday he tweeted "sunday evening been a f****** awful week but my friends have been great but now i have to some how pull myself together ..."
Anna Wintour reportedly left the BCBG show in a rush on Thursday morning after hearing the news. She later released a statement saying "He brought a uniquely British sense of daring and aesthetic fearlessness to the global stage of fashion. In such a short career, Alexander McQueen's influence was astonishing -- from street style, to music culture and the world's museums. His passing marks an insurmountable loss."
McQueen's close friend Kate Moss issued a statement through her rep on Thursday: "Kate is shocked and devastated at the tragic loss of her dear friend Lee McQueen. Her thoughts are with his family at this sad time. We would also ask that Kate's privacy is respected."
McQueen's secondary line, McQ, was to be presented Thursday, the day of his death, as part of New York Fashion Week. KCD, the PR company handling the show, says the presentation is canceled.

News of his passing sent shock waves through Bryant Park on the first day of New York Fashion Week.

From the Associated Press:
Company spokeswoman Samantha Garrett said McQueen's body was found in the morning but that she had no information "in terms of circumstances."
Police did not directly comment when asked about how McQueen died, but said officers were called by the ambulance service at 10:20 a.m. (1020GMT) to an address on Green Street, in central London, and found a 40-year-old man dead. They did not name him but said next of kin had been informed.
The force said a post-mortem would be held but that the death was not being treated as suspicious.
McQueen's death came days before London Fashion Week, although he was not scheduled to show in the British capital.
McQueen was scheduled to present his latest collection on March 9th at Paris Fashion Week.Lee Alexander McQueen, the son of a taxi driver, was born in East London in 1969. He apprenticed on Savile Row as a teenager before attending Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. It was his graduation collection that caught the eye of stylist Isabella Blow. The two became remained close friends until Blow committed suicide in May, 2007.
